j'en ai besoin.

I've been on a sneaker wedge kick lately. I loved the too highly priced Isabel Marant pairs, but figured that the style would never come in an acceptable form at a lower price. So I resigned myself to lower heeled athletic alternatives.

The shoe brand Ash has been releasing some pretty nice sneaker wedges, but I've had trouble finding the pairs I want online in my size. I'll cross my fingers and hope that I can find them in some French boutiques.

la bouteille.

When I have the time, I like to do some handmade crafts for my friends and family. I got into it when my mother forced my brother and I to make gifts for our teachers during Christmas and at the end of the year. I was actually pretty good at it. I like to think that the crafted objects are still on a bookshelf somewhere.

This holiday season, I wanted to do the same thing as I couldn't bring a ton of stuff over from France, and the thought of buying American goods seemed lackluster. So I decided to do something à la française for mes amis. I'll take you through the project and hopefully you'll be able to find some inspiration for your next gift idea.

I began searching around a West Elm home goods store, figuring that all of my friends could use something for their apartments. I had no luck finding anything specific, so I bought four glass bottles. Two of them were made using recycled glass! Even better.

Intent on decorating these bottles, I decided on the use of stained glass painting materials to decorate. Armed with my bottles and paint, I set to work making the bottles.

the power couple.

I was talking to a friend today about our respective relationships. And I thought it funny how we both wanted to end up in successful ones. Not just people we would be happy with, but people we would be successful and prosperous with.

Hence, the power couple.

Of course, it would be nice to have a successful career by your lonesome, but personally, I'd like to be able to combine that with my partner's independent success. And, if I'm lucky enough, we could even work together to build empires.

This school thing needs to hurry up and finish itself...

By the way, if you get a chance, check out H&M's turtlenecks for men. I bought one during a pre-Christmas sale and it works perfectly as a dress. In this Georgia weather, I can even get away with wearing it and boots sans tights. Glory.

I'll try and post my first experiments with my Nikon FM10 as soon as I find a scanner. There may even be one located in this house, but my vision isn't what it used to be.

beckoning eyes.

photo taken by me at Musée Bourdelle in Paris

Sometimes, I feel as if there's something looming over my shoulder trying to nudge me toward a path. Looking straight at me with stern, uncompromising eyes. Perhaps she's my future. Elle est l'avenir.
I'm anxious to meet her gaze. I'm afraid that she won't be satisfied with how things panned out. Mayhap...
